Lightning

I cut.

I burn.

I zap the birds.

I am the cooking lightning.

If I Were a Colonist

I am a colonist.  I lived in a wooden house.  There is some furniture like chairs and a table.  We cook on a fire.  We put things in a kettle over the fire like soup and mashed potatoes.  We clean every day, and we weed the garden.  We built our own house using wood from the forest.  On special days, we go ice skating.  We help other people to build their houses using logs and wood.  After we work, we celebrate.  We go to church and learn about God.  We stand for a long time from praying.  We learn about Bible stories.  I am a young girl, and I wear dresses all the time.  I like living in the new world.

From my reading journal . . . .

I read about space.  Early astronomers are Ptolemy, Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton.  We live in the Milky Way galaxy.  I wonder why Mercury is so small and dry and rocky.  Mercury is closest to the sun, and it moves around the sun very quickly.
